D will be moving in on August 11 for AA. We decided to arrive a few days early and make a family trip of it. Any recommendations for fun things to do there in the summer? I know it will be HOT! Our 12 yr old son will be with us too so want to have some fun to make up for all the shopping Is there anywhere to play in the water?

Depending on where you will be staying, many hotels have either indoor or outdoor pools and I have stayed at one condo that also had an outdoor pool.

Here is a link to a Tuscaloosa Visitor’s Guide:

Do you mean pool water?

I wonder if he could use the Outdoor Pool Complex?

Thanks- our hotel has a pool I guess I thinking more along the lines of the river or something specific to the local area? Not just water fun but anything really.

Thanks for the link robotbldmom!

your 12 year old would have a blast…

Both of those sound fun & it will be nice to have some options! I’m going to sign up my H and S to do the campus tour too, since this will be their first visit. Mostly, I think they are excited to get there and eat their way through all the BBQ they can!

Last year we rented a condo at the University Downs- Great pool/pool table/rec room.
Unfortunately we were so busy shopping we didn’t use any of it=(
My 15 yr old son really enjoyed the Paul Bryant Museum, but it was Dreamland BBQ that stole his heart. The food in T-Town is amazing!
