So what's the TV situation like? Is it available in every room? Is there one in every lounge? I'm a big sports fan, so I was wondering.

i was wondering this too… what if i want to watch a show or live sports game on tv?

you or someone in your suite has to bring one to share.

There is cable hookup (cable subscription is included in your housing contract) in every bedroom, and one in every common area too. But you have to provide the tv.

what kind of cable is provided?

standard cable.

Huh? In my room we had to provide both the TV and the cable.

You have to provide both the TV and cable if you want a TV in the room, but depending on which college you are going to, you might have a private lounge area (common area) where you can all share one tv (you and your suitemates decide who’s bringing that). My friend at Revelle has a private lounge area (you can lock the door to that) so they have a common tv there. I’m at Muir with has open common areas which can be accessed by anyone, so I have a TV in my own room. But you could always ask your HA’s to borrow their row-away TV.

I’m sure you can find a TV in other places close-by. In Muir, for example, you could go to M.O.M or Mercado to watch tv.

So if I’d be sharing it with my suitmates, how many people is that sharing the TV?

You can come to my place and watch it on my 36 inch HD TV!

Buy a tv tuner for your comp if you don’t want to share a tv.

I wouldn’t mind sharing a TV, I’m just wondering if there would be scheduling conflicts if a bunch of people were sharing it.

I lived in revelle with 9 other girls, so we had 4 tv’s in our suite: 1 in my room, 2 in other rooms, and 1 in the common room. The guys upstairs had 4 tv’s in their common room (nerds). We didnt have to pay for cable, just have an extending cable to hook up the tv.
