Twice the Chem to pass AP??? HELP!!!

Hi guys.

So here's my brilliant (not?) idea:

I'm taking AP Chem right now. I love it. I am good at it. My teacher sucks.

Basically, my teacher is one of those nice, friendly teacher who is a total laugh but who won't teach any of the material.

But I need to get a 5 on the AP Chem test so I could be National AP Scholar Junior year.

So here's my plan:

Would it be okay to take College Chemistry in my local community college?

The class lasts from Jan. to May. and covers pretty much everything in AP Chem. Once a week.

See, if I take the AP Chem test and pass, then the college will be me credit for that one class "College Chemistry".

So would it defeat the purpose if I took the class? Cause if I take the class, Im def. passing the AP Chem test, and if I pass the AP Chem test, I get credit for the class already taken.

????

Should I go for it to get the award or should I not go for it and risk not passing the test (big chance)?

Thanks!!!

im confused... why would u take the class at a comm college when ure getting the credit for that exact class through the AP test...... if u think that ure gonna get a def 5 through taking htat college class than go for it but i think its contradictory to the purpose of AP classes themselves. I mean.. you can study really hard and get the 5 on the test without taking that college chem class.

It's not so hard.. if you don't think your class is preparing you well, borrow Barron's AP Chem prep, make sure you understand every page in that book, and you will be totally set for a 5. Another alternative: hire a private tutor, often college undergrads can easily tutor you to a comfortable 5, and many do not charge too much. But honestly, just getting through a few AP prep books is enough for a 5. No need to take a college course concurrently.

^ totally agree, it would be a waste of time and money. Plus, colleges prefer AP classes to CC classes.
