Two ED2 Schools

I applied ED2 to a college that released their decisions on the 30th of January, far earlier than expected. I was rejected and I’m now wondering if I would be able to switch one of my RD apps to ED2.

The school that I would be doing so for is Tufts. I tried calling their admissions department when their office was expected to open this morning, however they’re closed due to the storm. Not sure what I should do at this point.

Has anyone any experience or success with trying to change from RD to ED after the deadline for submitting the ED app? Thank you.

It sounds like you’re trying to game the system… That said, the only way to find out is if you call the admissions office. Tufts ED2 decisions come out mid Feb, but I’m not sure what point of the process they are at.

deadline for some schools to change from Reg to ED2 was Feb 1. You would need to call and ask but the campus might be shut down due to snow storm. email as well.

Thank you both very much for the replies. The office is indeed shut down for the storm. I’ve emailed and will be calling throughout the day. I just wish there was more that I could do.

@pmast Sorry for the rejection. I don’t think you are trying to “game the system”, since you have no other ED app being considered right now. Having said that, Tufts is pretty far along in their ED timetable, and I would be surprised if they would allow a switch at this point. Still, give it a try. At the very least it shows how interested you are in their school.

Thanks for the advice. And no, I’m not trying to game the system! Never knew it was possible to apply to two ED1 or two ED2 schools, I just assumed that they were all on the same timeline but my ED2 admission decision came 17 days earlier than expected.

You qwew rejected by Vanderbilt so chances of being accepted at Tufts are not good.

well the middle 50% of accepted applicants for Vandy’s ED2 was 33-34 ACT which is higher than any other school I’m familiar with. I realize that Tufts is an incredible school with difficult admissions but I don’t think its admissions are quite as rigorous as Vandy’s. Regardless, I’m going to try my best to get into my #1 choice (after Vandy): Tufts.

@tomofboston‌ Tufts is a great school and very, very selective but Vanderbilt is definitely more selective than Tufts.

In any case, two different schools are two different schools with different admissions staff and probably policies. Might as well ED2 again if you want to.
