Two important questions

Just wondering if CalTech looks at freshman GPA, because I seriously screwed that up. I did extremely well the other years, but freshman year was not good. 3.1 gpa.

Also wondering, if I'm applying from Canada to American schools, how does the GPA conversion work? I heard Canadian students often get 5-10% added for being Canadian, being that our grading scales are different from the US, so to make up for that, 5-10% is added. And on that note, how much are IB subjects weighed? I heard universities don't hesitate in adding 3-4% to a person who finished the IB programme. All these things would seriously help me out a lot, because every percent kind of counts for me since I screwed up my freshman.

Thanks, as always.

In the absence of stating otherwise, I believe they use GPA from all years. http://www.admissions.caltech.edu/content/admissions-process-first-year-applicants
