I applied to the hotel school RD, and had my formal interview last weekend. I was just contacted this week, however, for another alumni interview with a graduate of the college of arts and sciences. Her email told me that it was nonformal, mostly informative rather than evaluative, and that I shouldn't dress up (as opposed to the Hotel School interview). Has this happened to anyone else? Should I just go on both interviews?

This interview is more of an "informational meeting." You basically go and can ask the alumnus questions about her cornell experience. It can be a nice way to get a feel for the spirit of cornell. It's nothing to worry about, especially if you're an outgoing, friendly person, which you likely are if you're interested in the hospitality industry.

do architectural applicants need 2 interviews as well?

you only need the formal, evaluative one. However, as an applicant to the college of AAP, you might run into the same situation. You only need the formal evaluative one, but the informational one is a nice supplement in terms of getting to know cornell as opposed to cornell getting to know you.
