Question about interviews

do all applicants get interviewed for regular decision? how important is it?
also if anyone had interview with cornell, wut kind of questions do they ask?

I have the same questions?

no i don't think they do..... hotel for sure, but not all applicants. =]

i don't think it's all applicants, but they try to pick up as many as they can. if you're a jerk, it'll hold against you. if you can't speak in proper english, (and it's your native language) they'd probably hold that against you. if you mouth the interviewer off and throw coffee in his lap, they'd reconsider you. but just be yourself, talk about your hobbies, why you love cornell so much and you'll be fine.

only Hotel and Arch require interviews - all the others are optional - Alum volunteers do the interviewing and some are more conscientious than others about actually calling/e-mailing their assigned applicants...the interview has very little bearing on the decision process and is really for the applicant's benefit to answer questions etc...

to ad to memphismom. the interview has little bearing in the decision process, unless you are applying to the Hotel school or majoring in Arch

How do we get an interview if it's not needed? Will an alum contact us or do we need to be proactive?

i think an alum will contact you, an alum contacted me and simply asked me when i could do the interview. The guy was really nice, and it was totally casual, just asked about my interests wasn't mean or tough at all.

Does anyone know if i was supposed to ask questions?

Yes, I can say Cornell does do RD interviews. I got an email from a Cornell alumnus a few days ago(got both a BS + MA in CS, and I want to major in CS, coincidence?). I have the interview on Friday!

They do interviews for sure but for schools other than Hotel and Architecture they are more informational than anything else. Yes, it is always good to have some questions for any interview--evaluative or not--it shows interest in the school. And be sure they are questions for which the answer is not easily available if you were to read the website or promotional materials.

Funny thing....I was at a restaurant last night and overheard a guy interviewing someone for Cornell.
