Two question

1) If i wanna become a undergrad finance major (currently a HS senior) , and the school I look forward to applying to , doesn't have that major ..should I take this kind of major that schools instead have...business management w/ a concentration in finance? what are the similarities between finance and business man.w/ a concentration in finance,& differences? What is the 2nd closest business major to finance?
2)There is a high school college credit program in NYC,called College Now
because i wanna be a finance major ,what classes do you recommend me taking (spring 09)
i am allowed to take one class from each list

List 1
- English 115.2 (College Writing)
- Philosophy 101
- Psychology 101
- Sociology 103 (Sociology of American Life)
- Dance 150 (Introduction to Dance) together with SPST 195.2 (College Writing)

List 2
- Astronomy
- Economics
- Foreign Languages
- Geology/Environmental Sciences
- History
- Linguistics
- Media Studies
- Music
- Nutrition
- Physics
- Political Science

I would just pick two of the core classes, as you do not want to take a class that MIGHT end up going into the elective pile. I say this, because I know as a Finance major at my school, all of my electives wound up being finance classes that were required for my degree, thus pushing me over the needed credits. So, I would probably take from field one: either Psych/Philo/Socio.

And group 2: As weird as it sounds, probably any except Economics. The economics you will need for your business degree may be different than the one they are offering, as most school break economics into Micro and Macro. I would find that one out first, but if it will fill the requirements of a Micro/Macro, then by all means take Eco.

Eh, I don't really know your school's requirements, so I can't say take this or take that, but it's always safer to go with the all around core classes, that all schools require.

Take whatever the hell you want.

I totally disagree with the previous poster.

From list one, I would take the English (College Writing) class, and from list two, I would take the Economics course.

Reasons:

Take the writing class, because it will be the most helpful in going to college. Being able to write well is, along with public speaking, the most important skill you can develop.

Take the economics class to see if you enjoy the economics/business/finance/accounting area. This is a good time to see if you like the area, or if you should go into a different major instead.

Best of luck.

I would worry more about what is going to convert into real credit(not elective), but that's just me. Nothing wrong with cal's suggestion though.
