Two year instate tuition freeze very likely

Thanks to bungling UW admins.

Marquette Poll: Overwhelming support for tuition freeze at UW - JSOnline

I forwarded this link to my parents and my dad’s comment was that it was too bad that the Marquette poll didn’t ask if people would like a tuition freeze at Marquette as well (my sister goes there). hahaha

And there it is.

[Scott Walker proposes UW tuition freeze, much smaller funding increase](Scott Walker proposes UW tuition freeze, much smaller funding increase)

State Legislature just tore UW System a new one.

[Darling: Why is UW System’s Reilly still here? « Watchdog.org](http://watchdog.org/86597/darling-why-is-uw-systems-reilly-still-here/)

Not that it’s going to help me any, because D2 graduated last week, but I didn’t see anything in that article about OOS tuition increases being curbed at all. Did I miss something? All I got between 2009-2013 was at least a 5% hike per annum and that (what now seems cockamamie) Madison Initiative deal tacked onto my bill.

From the article: Rep. Cory Mason, D-Racine: “When I talked to people who are upset about this, they’re upset that the UW overcharged them for tuition for the surplus.”

How much of that overcharge is now nondischargeable student loan debt that will financially cripple those students for a decade or even longer after graduation? What a shame.

Apropos in this thread…
