Typed looks more professional, ink shows more effort. So I am not sure it really makes a difference.
Any input?

I read that typing makes everything more clear for them to read, etc. and they appreciate it. Bottom line, no one is going to be like "Oh, she handwrote. Admit her!"

See old boards for fascinating related thread called "Paper-clip or Staple?", one of my top ten of all time Fave CC threads. ha. Of course, we were avidly interested, so who am I kidding.
Consider downloading adobe acrobat complete for a 90 day trial run during application season.
Some students use scanners well.
My S saved essays into Word, and cut and pasted into the Common App.
Parts that need to be handwritten, one advice book suggested Blue ink, and if you make copies of anything, get color copies unless it is all script. Really..look through old threads on old CC forum in the Sept-Dec season and plenty of kids offer practical tips re how to fill out forms attractively.
