Typical ND Question

Like the other million-do my chances look decent?

I'm a junior at a Catholic high school (medium sized, about 1200 students)
98.2% Average (out of 100%, w/ weight the valedictorian usually gets about a 103% so mine's not perfect but pretty high)
School doesn't rank, but almost definitely in top 10% of (very competitive) class
Always in all possible honors and AP
Current Classes-AP Biology (all seniors), AP US Hist. Honors PreCal, Spanish 3, Honors Physics, Cath. Church Class, and AP Language
Next year: AP Physics, AP Euro Hist., AP Calc BC, AP Spanish, Ethics, AP English Lit, possibly AP Chem also
33 ACT (I'm starting prep, so I really think I can get a 34+)
2150 SAT (not retaking)
Involved in: Student council, School Paper (writer), Perform in both musical and play, on stage crew for 2 years, Co-Pres of Recycling club and Student Action, in NHS<--I'm in other clubs but these are the ones I'm most active in
I had a job for 6 months this year but was too busy, plan to get another
Have req. service work through school, plan to do weekly work (10 hours or so) at local hospital
Will work HARD on essay
I've expressed interest (not sure if that matters) by visiting, responding to mailings, and applying for summer program (not sure if I'm in yet)
My school usually gets a lot of people into ND
How's it looking? Thanks

it looks great so far, keep it up and make sure to stay involved.

i went to the summer experience last year and got into the school EA this year. is that what you are applying to? if so, what track?

I'm applying for psychology as 1st option, Dante's Inferno as the 2nd. What'd you think of the summer experience? I don't know if I want to go for sure. Half the reason I applied was to see if I could get in so I could worry a little less about actual admissions. I think it looks fun, but considering my dad is not very pro-ND (my mom is 100% though--divorced), I'm not sure if I can squeeze the money out of him or if it's worth begging over.

And P.S. I plan to apply regular decision

o ok, well if i were you i would consider applying early, especially if u get the ACT up 1 more point

i originally applied for business but then was in theology

psychology was a great track from what i heard (my roommate was in it)

i had a great time at NDSE and i already knew i wanted to go there (my dad went to ND, mom went to SMC)

i would say its a great way to meet new people, have an almost perfect 2 weeks, and get to know the campus

do i think it would sway you either way? probably not, it might make u want to go there more like it did for me

its a great time and i would recommend it if u find a way to get there but i will tell u if u already love the school it wont change u at all

good luck!

Well I already love ND. I think it will be a good experience if I go. I will probably go if I get in. Do you really think I should apply early? I thought early action was for the more competitive applicants, meaning that althought the acceptance was greater, it was out of a more qualified pool? I think I'm decent for ND but would not consider myself as being REALLY competitive.

well i really like your chances but you really need to make the decision yourself.

i would certainly consider you very competitive.

I have done the summer experience too (Life Sciences), and from what I hear it does seem to help a little with admissions; it shows interest. However I don't think admission to the program is nearly as selective as admission to the University- so I wouldn't say it helps predict an acceptance letter.

i agree with asian_25

it is easier to get into NDSE by far, but it can help a little bit (maybe not a lot, but a little)

Yeah I realize that the university is a whole different ballgame, I just felt that if I got into summer experience, it would mean that I'm at least not one of the laugh-worthy applicants--that sounds bad, but you know what I mean. So anyone else have any input on my stats, if it looks good for ND, anything I can do to improve my chances, any advice?
