I just submitted my Harvard application. After a lot of proofreading, I still submitted it with a typo in one of my essays. When talking about why I wanted to go to Harvard, I said, “it a place” instead of “it is a place.” Do you think this will matter at all or will they not even notice? I know this might not matter at a different school, but at Harvard it feels like every little thing matters.
I made a similar mistake in my essay, albeit mine was much worse. However, I got accepted early action anyway. Human error is insidious, and few things can be completely devoid of it. The admissions committee understands that and will likely glance over your typo without a second thought, especially with a typo so commonplace as your own. If you don’t get accepted, I guarantee you, it will not be because of that typo. So, don’t worry about it, and please do try to relax during the next four months for they will be long.
