Hello Everyone,
I recently submitted my college applications, and as is done by most people, recycled the same essay for the “Why Here?” questions. I changed the name of the school and all information pertaining to them. However, I realized that I made a typo in the very first sentence of the essay, and only noticed after I submitted my applications. The typo was as follows:
The world “value” is defined as “the importance to which something is held, the regard or worth of something.”
As you can see, I have typed in “WORLD” instead of “WORD”
What should I do? How big of a deal is this? Will this affect my chances of getting admitted, considering that I sent this essay with typo to places like Columbia and NYU?
It will be noticed, but if your application is strong, it won’t matter. It’s not like you’re applying to Stanford and spelled it Y-a-l-e. You’re prob okay.
So I don’t have to let them know? Or should I tell them?
Don’t worry about it. Google College Confidential Clam Fart and read the thread.
Don’t stress over that little typo.
If a college autorejected every application with a typo, there would be many open seats. This question has literally been asked dozens of times since 11/1; the answer will not change.
Chill. Read the “clam fart” thread here. He was accepted.
