I have two pretty big typos in my common app essay
One of them kind of makes the sentence have a whole different meaning (i forgot to put "not" in, or rather it got deleted in the jumble of writing it)

what should I do? i know some posts in the forum say to send them an updated version with a handwritten letter, but would this make me seem obsessed?
should i offer to email the actual final copy?

I think with two typos, no matter how big, you should leave it alone. Trying to fix it by somehow replacing your submission with a new copy of the same essay will highlight the typos for the adcoms which is the opposite of what you are trying to do.

I would also NOT contact the admissions office. If it would make you feel better, contact the regional admissions representative and ask them what you should do. Make sure you go in and make the corrections for your next submission of your common application.

Contact the local admissions representative and ask them.

Quote: is it possible that I will still get accepted even with the typos?

Without knowing anything about you, your stats/resume, or the recipient school of your application, it would be hard to answer this question with any degree of accuracy.
