U British Columbia for 5 friends?

Four of my friends and I have decided to apply to the University of British Columbia together. We're really close, and we happened to all really love this university (3 of us planned to apply even before we knew the others were thinking of it). The only thing is that ever since I pitched the idea everyone's gotten their hopes way up, and I'd just like to know how likely it is we'll all get in before any of my friends plan on it and get crushed. We're all applying to other schools, and I know friends aren't the best reason to choose a school, but we'd all want to go there even if we went alone. Anyway, here's a very short list of our stats:

1: Weighted GPA: 4.68, Unweighted: 4.00, SAT: 2400

2: Weighted GPA: 4.20, Unweighted: 4.00, SAT: 2270

3: Weighted GPA: 3.93, Unweighted: 3.5, ACT: 30

4: Weighted GPA: 3.74, Unweighted: 3.3, SAT: 2270

5: Weighted GPA: 4.17, Unweighted: 3.7, SAT: 2100

All from the same high school. Anyone who can tell me if we have a chance, I'd really appreciate it.

IN, IN, IN, Depends - High senior grades? then IN, IN

Personally I'm not a big fan of UBC but it's not that hard to get in unless you're an asian applying to Faculty of Science.

yeah, Friend 4 (sorry for not putting names, not sure if they'd want me to) has straight A's senior year and is taking 4 APs. He suffered from bad depression for Sophomore and Junior year before he was treated, and he's sending a letter to the university to explain that, if that will help.

mrclassicfreak, what about the university did you not like?

Well, I live in Vancouver and have been living here since grade 5 (I'm originally from Toronto, ON) and I just simply don't like the quiet environment and the quality of undergraduate education in UBC, though I have to admit that UBC has one of the most gorgeous campus in North America and the vitality of Downtown Vancouver is just unbelievable. I know literally tons of people in UBC so If I were to attend there, it won't be new to me at all (I visit my friends' res every month). Rather than just chilling in the very same place that I've been living in for past 7 years, I want to experiece new things and live in places that I have never been to.
It's just my personal preference so take it as a grain of salt.

mrclassicfreak- hm, I saw that they were considered one of the top universities in the world so I assumed they had excellent programs. Is this a case of the numbers not really reflecting the quality of the school? What makes UBC's undergraduate program weak? Thank you so much for all the information.

Well, first of all there's huge grade inflations including not-so-generous-curved classes. Compared to schools in the States it may even seem ridiculous that they give out such marks, though same goes for ALL Canadian universities. Don't just rely on rankings but again, it might be important for you guys to come visit UBC and take a look around to see how it is like to be students there. Of course what I'm saying here is considerably biased. But all I can say is UBC just wasn't for me. My friends who are attending UBC seem really satisfied with their school (except for some econ/biochem majors - brutal brutal BRUTAL competition). In conclusion: see it for yourself :)

Well, first of all there's huge grade inflations including not-so-generous-curved classes.

Do you mean grade deflation? I thought Canadian universities deflated their grades.

You're all in. UBC isn't a difficult school to get in to. #1 and #2 should apply to Ivies...
