U Chicago Econ vs Yale Econ

Have to select between these two. Any suggestions/ideals are appreciated.

Yale. You'll get the elite name/alumni connection.

UChicago. You'll get the intellectual education and the alumni connection and the opportunity to live in Chicago. I like New Haven also but Chicago has more opportunities and cultural activities. Plus you may have Steven Levitt as your professor!

If the question is "U Chicago Econ vs Yale Econ?" then U Chicago. If the question is "U Chicago vs. Yale?" then Yale.

Definitely University of Chicago if you are interested in Economics.

But if you aren't, go to Yale.

I think it would be a bad idea to turn down Yale for the fact that you might be missing out on some serious connections down the line.

Agreed. It's not like Yale is that far behind Chicago in the Econ dept. rankings, and Yale is a great place on many counts anyways.

Yeah, I really doubt that economics at -YALE- is bad.

I would rank the alumni connections of Uchicago and Yale in the same category when it comes to business. Once someone gets to that level schools do not matter as much as individual attributes. Personally I may be more interested in Uchicago because of the fact that you can take classes at GSB which has great courses.

Lets just put it this way: Yale or Uchicago won't keep you out of a job. It all comes down to your preferences.

They are totally different experiences. It sounds like cliche, but pick based on fit. I agree with above posts about choosing Chicago econ but Yale in general. Many people find that UChicago isn't the right place for them.
