I know my essays and recs were amazing - the question is can they overcome a 3.3 HS GPA, 28 ACT, and 3.42 College GPA (caused by one C first semester)

Arghgh... I knew Chicago's use of the document imaging was going to cause delays!

I think Chicago admissions likes to use transfers as lab rats. hehehe. I just hope it doesn't extend past next week! That would kill me!!!

Where are you transferring from, neverborn?

Transferring from a lower school too - the Illinois Institute of Technology.

what is the new imaging system ?
So no replies untill Tuesday it seems.

Sorry for the slow response....I've been swamped here installing a new document imaging system....our reading and review of transfer applications has been slightly delayed...though we're in full swing...but an increase in first-year applications which had to be sent first....I think we're running a few days behind our anticipate schedule.

whered u get that??

Thats the blog for transfers, if you click on the comments to the last post, you will go here http://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=21870327&postID=114385010099060299 and its at the bottom.

omg...i don't get this, we submit aps March 1, and they can't even get them to us by April 15, so ridiculous

it's a bit ridiculous, isn't it? My whole incentive for applying early was so I could get an early reply as well... I'm so antsy about the coming email that I can't even focus on my coursework... :(

In my opinion, it would be nice to know the date, regardless of when it was.

Don't worry, I doubt that they will send it out later than this week...

i sent in wash u like 4 days ago, i will prob hear back from them before chicago...

Why don't they just set a "worst case" date, tell everyone that's the date, then surprise us with an early announcment?

It seeems like they design this whole system to torture us.

Apparently they are scanning all the paper apps and reading them electronically.

I sure hope they see what the actual pages look like. I put a lot of work into my headers and style! If they just turn it into text, then I might as well have used the online app! It sort of ****es me off, to speak the truth.

The whole imaging system (because it is a brand new thing) has me sort of worried about my app. Especially since I had a few supplemental things that I think might not fit into a standard mold...

I wouldn't worry about it. They wouldn't "just turn it into text" as Ted O'Neill has stated a couple of times how he finds it absurd that students can't even underline the title or use bold/italics/other features in their aplications so he encourages people who care about that stuff to send their stuff in, so I doubt they would just turn it into regular text after all that.

Someone emailed me last week saying that I would be contacted for an interview. Then I got another email the next day saying that i was EA so an interview would essentially be pointless...did this happen to anyone else?

I hope their scanning is in color. I even employed a very subtle use of color in my app (no, nothing gawdy or annoying, but just right). That's the whole reason I went with paper. Like Einstein said, God is in the details.

This didn't happen to me, but EA's were supposed to have scheduled interviews earlier. You can find the info on the admissions website underneath transfers and then interviews.

I had an interview.

Do you think interviews play a strong role at Chicago?

I didn't check the box for scheduling an interview since I live in California. But then later I realized that I could have an interview with a Chicago alumnus in my area. Oh well, I hope it doesn't hurt my chances.

Here's the link where uchicago talks about interviews. I had one and I thought it was helpful to get a better idea of the kind of student that uchicago is looking for. http://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/level3.asp?id=383
