U Cincinnati and bowling green, Please help.

Okay so I am planning on going to one of the two to study supply chain management (business) but BG is cheaper 13,000, as opposed to cincy possibly 16/17 thousand. However people say it might be worth the money because it's a better school. I want to know if it would be worth it, do you love cincy? Or do you love BG? Is cincy dangerous? Is BG a good school with smart kids and good programs? Is there a way to make Cindy cheaper?! Thanks

Are you saying there’d be a 3-4,000 difference between the two?
Rather than these numbers, please give numbers for:
cost minus scholarships/grants (do NOT subtract any loan or anything else from your financial aid package)

Cincinnati is roughly 22,000 minus 6500 in scholarships/ grants. BG is 18,500 minus 6,000. So cincy will be 15/16 thousand and BG will be about 12/13 thousand.

I considered both schools, but personally, I prefer UC (which is where I am going this fall! :D)! You coop at both schools, which is a really cool experience in itself, but UC’s coop program is nationally known! I love UC and its environment and just Cincinnati in general. Being so close to the city, UC has the rep of being “dangerous”, but as long as you are aware of your surrounding and don’t do anything silly (like walking alone in the middle of the night) you’ll be fine haha. Either way you go, both schools are great! Good luck in your decision process!

Thanks. (Students post all kinds of numbers on these boards  so I had to make sure)
Would you be interested in co-ops? Cincinnati has one of the best co-op programs in the country.
The environments are also very different.

Once you take out $5,500 in loans and about $4,000 in summer + work study earnings,
you’d have to find $5,500 to attend Cincinnati or $2,500 to attend BG. Can your parents pay that amount? Or how would you find the money? If your parents can only provide you with $2,500, then BG it is… If they have $5,500, then you can afford to choose between both.

UC: 3.46 average for admitted freshmen, 29% with 3.75 or higher
BG: 3.2 average for admitted freshmen, 19% with 3.75 or higher

UC: 45% above 600 in Math, 36% above 600 in CR
BG: 17% , 15%

UC Graduation rate, 4 years: 24% (* in part due to the co op semesters - 2 co ops terms delay graduation by 1 year)
BG Graduation rate, 4 years: 36%

My parents are paying for my college but that why they want me to go to BG, I’m trying to find reasons why uc is better though because I think I’d like it more. Would the education be better? And yeah there in complete different settings, I’ve seen BG and it’s small town feel is nice but might get boring. What’s cincinnaties setting and atmosphere like I have not visited. Thanks!

Another thing to consider about your Co-Op terms. At UC during Co-Op you’re making money and at the same time, your Co-Op term “tuition” is $465.00 for 2014. Many programs at UC incorporate 5 terms of Co-Op over a 5 year total resulting in 3.5 years of full tuition compared to a full 4 years at other instituions (assuming you’d complete in 4 years). That 1/2 year less at Cincy is bucks in your (or your parents) pocket. Additionally, what you earn over expenses on Co-Op is bucks in your (or your parents) pockets over a regular 4 year experience. So, when comparing a program from Cincy to other 4 year institutions, you shouldn’t do it using an annual cost estimate but over the time period to get your degree.
