<p>Not surprising. Michigan has long been a pioneer in higher education. Its ability to adapt and innovate are one of the many factors that have made Michigan one of the best universities for close to two centuries. It is one of the first universities in the US to embrace the “German” model. While most universities in the 19th century adhered to the English model of education (classics, greek, theology etc…), Michigan emphasized the sciences since it was founded. Michigan was also the first US university to introduce the seminar approach and the socratic method prominently in its curriculum.</p>
<p>It is nice to see, however, that the University is still at its innovative best until this day.</p>
