<p>Not all universities use the Common App. If a university isn’t shown on Common App, then you don’t need to answer the essay questions in the Common App if you are applying to schools that don’t use the Common App. </p>
<p>The essays that you have to write technically ARE personal statement essays-- they give the college admissions officer a look into who you are as a person.</p>
