I was set on attending U of A up until I learned that Arizona has tarantulas, tarantula wasps, scorpions, and other big bugs. I am terrified of bugs any bigger than a quarter. I’m from Seattle and the only times you might see bugs bigger than a quarter is during the summer. Once it hits Fall, all the bugs disappear. So my question is: How often do you see tarantulas, tarantula wasps, scorpions, etc., in your day to day life?
Any info would really help.
I’ve never seen a tarantula or a tarantula wasp in my day to day life in Arizona. I saw a tarantula or two when I lived in California. I do see scorpions here in AZ, but they are not really bigger than a quarter and are usually seen in the summer. That said, Arizona does have its fair share of bugs.
You have those slugs that look like giant crawling turds. Just as bad as insects, IMHO.

Have ever seen any of those bugs on campus or in the city - the only scorpion I have ever seen was in Phoenix.
