U of De or York College PA

Does anyone know which college is better for nursing?

Better? No idea. I know York is perfectly fine as evidenced by students who have gone there, done well, and gotten decent job offers. I just can’t compare.

U Del probably more name recognition, but both good programs. Schools are vastly different though. I wouldn’t think someone who loved U Del would love York.

See if you can check out their NCLEX pass rates. To be honest, most nursing schools are so strictly controlled by nursing standards, they will all provide what someone needs to pass NCLEX boards. It may come down to what else a student is looking for from a college, or cost, or whatever.

I used Britmom5’s NCLEX rates and found this for all colleges in PA:

https://www.dos.pa.gov/ProfessionalLicensing/BoardsCommissions/Nursing/Documents/Applications%20and%20Forms/NCLEX-PerformanceRN.pdf

York College comes in at 92.22% which is above both our state (91.1%) and national (86.94%) averages.

I found this for Delaware colleges:

https://dprfiles.delaware.gov/nursing/Annual_NCLEX_Stats_16-17.pdf

U Del comes in at 87.65%.

Other schools from both states are listed if you’re interested in other options.

Thanks to @Britmom5 for such a helpful way to check places out!

Once you have your BSN and RN, nursing all comes down to experience.

What are you looking for in a college? Both schools are direct nursing. Are costs, campus life, big school vs small school, class size, professor attention, etc a factor? Is it a question of prestige?
