U of Miami, U of Indiana, Fordham, Tulane Or American University?

Hi I am a transfer student from CT. I currently attend the University of Hartford. I am a double major in Accounting and Finance and I was just wondering which school would be best in terms of overall academic quality? So far I have been accepted to University of Miami, U Of Indiana, Fordham University, and Tulane as a transfer. I am waiting to hear back from American. Nonetheless, I think that all of these schools are excellent. I plan on making some visits during my sprng break which starts next week! But for now can anyone give me a sense of the social life, sports scenes, city life, job market, reputations etc. I would love to hear from students or parents who have visited/gone to these schools. Thanks for your time!

Have you been accepted directly to the business schools of these universities? (Specifically I’m thinking of the Kelley School at IU has a separate application process).

As far as reputations go, of the schools you list IU-Kelley is probably the highest rated. The real question you need to be asking is, where do I want to work after I get out of college? All these schools are well known, but their greatest job market strength is going to be primarily regional. That’s true of most schools. Indiana will be strongest in the midwest (St. Louis-Chicago-Indianapolis), Fordham - NYC, Tulane - (Dallas-New Orleans-Atlanta), Miami - (Miami-Atlanta). The further you get from campus the weaker the alumni/job network is going to be. That doesn’t mean you can’t get a job far away from your alma mater, but the schools closer to where you want to live will have the stronger network of contacts.

what was ur gpa since u got accepted into fordham?

Thanks for the replies! Yes, I am a direct admit to Kelley. My gpa is currently a 3.58 but I am a minority and have done plenty of community service and also I am very involved with student organizations. Any more replies will be great. Thanks.

D is a student at Indiana University- not a business major though. We know many past and present students who graduate from Kelley. Haven’t heard anything negative from any of them. Several spent a semester abroad in Kelley programs. Some found job in the midwest while others ended up on the east coast. As far as Bloomington social life, there is pretty much something for everyone. You will find people you want to hang out with and it’s only forty-five mnutes to Indianapolis if you crave some city life.

Tulane has incredible programs. Check out their energy trading and the Burkenroad reports, for example. Also they have a very strong east coast network as well as south, since 1/3 of the student body from New England/Mid-Atlantic and has been for some time. And of course New Orleans is amazing.

thats cool im a miniority too applying to transfer to fordham next year but, i think you have a great chances at fordham, Umiami, Indiana,& American, on college board it says Tulane only accepted 300 out of 2k so…anything is possible

thank you for the posts! Basedboy ive already been accepted at these schools. The only school I am waiting to hear back from is American University. I have heard nothing but great things about all of these schools. The only way I can find out for sure is by making some visits very soon!
