<p>hey everyone, this is my first post! :]
im having some trouble with the diversity essay for u of m, are they asking to explain how you are diverse in your opinons, culture, interests, etc.? or are they asking what qualities would set you apart from other applicants that you would bring to u of m in order to create diversity?

<p>My first thought is that it doesn't really matter which way you interpret the question-- they just want to see how you think and write about it. (I Haven't seen the question.)
My second thought is I hope they don't mean it the first way (you are diverse in opinions, etc) because that starts to look like a political correctness test. Also, I'm not sure how one person can be diverse all by himself. You can bring diversity by bringing something different than what others bring.</p>
