What are my chances at either school? I've looked over the Drexel forum, which didn't seem to have much enthusiasm... lol. I haven't heard many positive things about its social atmosphere. Haven't read much about Pitt though. But if anyone can compare the social life and academic programs (for bio majors), it would be much appreciated!

You could get significant money from both schools. I would choose Pitt if I were you. Much stronger program, both overall and in biology. Drexel really is in a lower class of schools. And Pitt does have a much better quality of life, more of the traditional college experience.

Do you think I might be eligible for full tuition? Or partial? I'm an American living abroad, so I can really juice the diversity aspect in my essay. Also, I'm doing IB, and taking as many HLs as possible. I've had As the past two years (I have a 3.8 because I had several low Bs in my freshman year). The main thing I'm worried about is applying so late... would that necessarily kill my chances at scholarship money?

On the application, it doesn't really ask for ECs, just "Special Interests," so are they not terribly important? Are we supposed to send a resume or something if we are interested in scholarship consideration?

And how many recs should we send? Since they don't require any, I'm assuming they'd rather read as few as possible. Would 1 teacher rec be optimal?

You're definately going to get some money, maybe even a full ride. You have a shot at the honors college, too. I would check that out. I'm not too sure about how the scholarship system works, you'll have to contact someone at Pitt to find out. I'm sure they'll be able to accomodate you, though. Pitt is well known for academic financial aid.

Here's their website for academic scholarships:

The deadline is Jan. 15th, so you'd better get crackin on that app!! The website says they will consider you after that date if they still have money left over, but they may not consider you for the Chancellors after the 15th. Good luck and get movin'.
