I've been accepted to UR but I'm not quite sure if I'll be attending yet. Right now I'm planning on majoring in Biomedical Engineering, maybe specializing with a premed track. I've been to the campus twice and know all about the atmosphere there but what are BME graduates doing after their four years? How many go to grad school, how many go straight into a job, and what kind of money are those students making? Any help would be appreciated.

I know somewhat about a much larger biomed program in Boston. Kids there go in both directions. I really can’t generalize. And the field is evolving so quickly there are multiple opportunities. I note for example the UR Biomed homepage says 2 of the 6 finalists for the New York Business Plan Competition - which is a university level competition for NY schools. Undergrad team in biotech/healthcare and grad team in information technology/software. So some is entrepreneurial. The prize is pretty big.

My suggestion is to ask them. [Here’s the biomed webpage.](http://www.bme.rochester.edu) If you follow the news link you see the contact link on the left side.

You might want to look at the employment and graduate school acceptance surveys for the graduating seniors (at commencement) for the Classes of 2012 and 2011
