@amanda1014 that’s what i am thinking!! i got waitlisted as well. the thing that makes me think yes is because it said only 3% is on the waitlist but idk if that’s good??
Is today only for those applying before December?
waitlist
10th 91.2%
11th 70%
@amanda1014 No. infortunatley, they accepted 6 out of nearly 1800 who accepted spots last year.
son was admitted on 2/8 and merit came through on 2/13 if they follow that pattern.
I got in yesterday but I thought the official website said the decision is not going to come out till Apr. 1st? Does this means I qualify for some kind of merit scholarships? And also my acceptance letter seems somewhat personalized since it has some of my achievements & interest fields in the third paragraph (Yes I’m aware that it might be algorithmic)… Really need a insider to explain thanks!!! And hopefully everyone else waiting good luck!
P.S. Btw I applied on Jan. 5th, the deadline day, so I am actually very surprised that I heard back that fast since my stats aren’t superb.
@Wishmeluck18 Rochester releases its decisions in waves, so I believe you heard of your admission in the second wave to date. You will hear about merit scholarships (if any) in a week or so and financial aid a few days after that. Congrats!
Also, Rochester is very much so that looks for “fit,” so stats are only part of the picture here.
anyone have tips to try and get off the waitlist since Rochester continues to be my top choice? My GPA is average for the school and my SAT is a 1460 (800 math, 660 english). I have good extra circulars and essays.
My sons acceptance was also somewhat personalized. However< they made a mistake in one of the clubs he wrote about. It was model congress & wrote model UN. lol. made me chuckle. My son felt it was a standard form, with copy & paste. Still it is nice that they do try & not just send out a plan your accepted letter.
Daughter’s acceptance letter also personalized (accepted last year) though there was a typo (disappointing to an ex-editor)! I do think it’s a copy and paste thing. Since she did not have top stats but did have a very nice application all around, I believe they are trying to match students with the school.
still waiting for my decision, deferred ED 1
Anyone knows if deferred applicant have good chances or not?
or about what % accepted? :-SS
I was accepted last night and I am so excited! Does anyone know if there’s an accepted students forum or Facebook page?
D’s letter was personalised and a whole para (4-5 sentences) devoted to her social justice cause. Also talked about how it fits and can grow at UR. I found this really refreshing as the school is trying to reach out and show that it’s just not their grades and scores. I hope more schools help with insight into what they saw special in their selection process.
I think Adcoms tend to use the acceptance letter as a way to catch prospective students. For nobody wants to attend a university which does not care about students.
If you didn’t get a merit scholarship with your decision letter, does that mean you won’t get it?
Merit aid/financial aid comes out a few days after decisions do and decisions come out in waves until April 1st
Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted, and good luck to those who were deferred, waitlisted, or are still awaiting a decision!
Does anyone know (or, even have a hunch) when the next wave will be released?
Thank you!
Thank you @cottoncandy1301!! And @sugarbelle this isn’t too much but I saw on a 2010 thread that it came out 7-10 days after in 2009…
Thank you @Saco144 - that’s something!
