@bygbyrd Congrats! If u don’t mind what was your IB Predicted? Out of 42 or 45?
Has any International deferred student received their decision?
@SatKam I would have to ask my coordinator. My school still has IA submissions going on so it’s subject to change. Our’s are out of 45. If I find out what it is soon, I’ll post it in here.
got in the 1st of march (international) and got my merit award but still nothing on fin aid:( is anyone else in this situation?
@yoyo77777777 I’m not international but I got in on that day and also received merit but no financial aid yet
Hi, a question for everyone: I’m an IB diploma student student thinking of applying next year - how did you convert your predicted scores into wgpa for information?
Thanks so much!
@AlfaBeta72: Few things
UoR, in their profile has started reporting average IB score out of 42. (when people apply, EE, ToK are not available). In 2017, it was 33… I think by now, it would be around 34-35.
Most Universities have stopped converting, as they now compare your score to their pool to make a decision. I suspect, about 25,000 IB students will apply to top 60 Universities. So a school like UoR will have at least 2-3K IB students applying.
Finally, different methods have been provided by different schools: just email asking them this question.
Whatever your grading system, convert it to the scale of 4 and add 1 to 1.5 to your score for IB, depending on the school.
So a score of 42/42 equates to 42*4/42 =4 and for IB add 1, so 4+1=5. Some schools give 1 for AP and give 1.5 for IB and so, your weighted GPA will be =4+1.5 =5.5. UCs actually convert it on individual course rank and SL and HL. Other than UCs, other schools are moving or have moved to pool 25-75%. Hope this helps.
@mjuni2001 I think I did the writing supplement, but not the peer recommendation. I wouldn’t worry about it too much though - I would think the other parts of the application are much more important?
I haven’t gotten a decision yet, but they did request my IDOC… is that a good sign? Its my match school and first choice, and I had a really good feeling after the interview. I have a pretty good SAT, I’m salutatorian, tons of extracurriculars and leadership positions, captain of my sports, lead in musicals, ect… Just wonder what’s taking so long I guess
Thanks @SatKam, that’s really helpful! So my predicted 38 (w/out extras) would be 4.6-5.1 depending on schools, roughly, if and when applicable. That maks sense, cheers and good luck everyone on your FA! Looks like I might have a chance at UoR with my SAT at 1450 hopefully…
news about releasing all decisions after the spring break
?
University of Rochester just got back from Spring Break. Their first day of classes was Monday, March 18th
Interpret this however
so any day from now one is possible…
Any idea when aid offers will be released?
Is anyone on here a NMF? My son is & we were told a range of what his scholarship could be($25- $35,000). They gave him originally only $14,000 then grant $, when we spoke t to them they told me if declared #1 would be in that range. but grant $ goes down. The gave me an estimate of grant $ with $25,000. My problem lies with knowing grant $ changes yearly & my sons 2nd year we go from 2 in college to 1 & we will probably lose the grant $ or at least 1/2 of it. If the scholarship is at $35,000 then we will be ok sending him there with a small loan. We are trying to keep #s as close to a nays school.
I got my financial aid today (accepted March 1st). I would suggest calling/emailing financial aid if you haven’t gotten it yet. They were super helpful when I called yesterday. Financial aid is looking really good so I might end up attending U of R!
@cottoncandy1301 I got in on the 16th, so perhaps I should wait two weeks???
@bygbyrd Yes. For me merit aid came out on March 7th (1 week after acceptance) and Financial Aid came out today (close to 3 weeks - i think it came out last week for many but after checking my idoc, i realized i hadn’t submitted the verification statement, so i did that late last week and it came today).
Does the aid info come in the mail or in your portal?
