My daughter got U of Ro. She is interested in study abroad program. Do we pay extra tuition?
@Sappo624 My daughter’s semester abroad was actually the least expensive semester of all at Rochester. She even got a scholarship from the study abroad program that covered her airfare. It was seamless.
What they told me at accepted students day was that all FA transfers with the student wherever they may be going to study. There are also travel grants you can apply for from UR. I would assume that the tuition remains constant as terms of the agreement they have with the partner unis. But you’d obviously want to check with UR directly to make sure
My daughter is an alum who did study abroad first semester junior year as do many. You should contact the Study Abroad office early on as there were information sessions that were mandatory that she attended beginning first semester sophomore year. We paid our regular tuition to Rochester, there might have been a study abroad fee. The important thing is the paperwork as you need to attend an approved study abroad program so that the courses you register for are properly credited either for elective credit or if any are being used toward your major. For my d, as a double major, 2 of the courses she took abroad counted toward one of her majors and the rest were electives.
My son was a Mech Eng student and did a study abroad, which the ME dept highly encouraged. It did not cost more. He went to New Zealand and had a life changing experience and stayed in step with his program so still graduated in 4 years. Because UR has a more flexible curriculum, study abroad is very doable, even for engineering students.
