study abroad

I know of the Rochester Study abroad programs, but im curious as to how good they really are. Id love to know if people found them worthwhile...

bump i want to know about this too

I know there are a lot of schools that will work with rochester and let students sign up for their programs, but i dont know how good they are.

Is it thesis driven? Community Service? Or do you sort of design your whole program?

To start off with here is the link to the UR study abroad page

<a href="http://www.rochester.edu/College/abroad/%5B/url%5D">http://www.rochester.edu/College/abroad/</a></p>

From what I understand, UR offers some study abroad programs but is affiliated with many others. So as for what exactly the program quality or requirement varies between where you go, which institution you register with, what program you are doing, who's sponsoring you, etc.

I do know right now, middle eastern (arabic) nations are growing in popularity. The US government has a major grant for people to go out to middle eastern nations and study there. Probobly has something to do with the absolute lack of translators and natives. But anyways, the good is that they will subsidize a massive chunk of costs if you apply to the US program.

But again, each program is unique so depending on where you want to travel gives you different opportunity. As for how many opportunities are out there. There are plenty, UR is affiliated with (to me) a rediculous amount of other universites and has many programs set up with practically every nation on the planet that is safe to travel to and has a university.

Almost every nation in Europe, a couple in S. America, several in asia, several in the mid east, and a few in africa. So unfortunatly you'll have to come and see for yourself, since not all of the programs are integrated into UR.

Great Thank you!

I do a lot of traveling to the mideast for family visits and such, so it might be interesting to look into working with a program there for a while through UR.
