U of san francisco or American U or SUNY-binghamton

which one is best?
undergraduate.
I wanna study FINANCE.
according to the weather, rankings, location, professors, and so on.
which one is best?\
Thanks a million.

Ps: Personally
*the rankings of university of san francisco is not very well. but the campus is the most beautiful one, right? and san francisco is one of the financial centers in the west.
*American university is in washington DC, the capital. Although the rankings are quite good, in my opinion, the capital city is in favor of politics, not Business.

*Suny-binghamton is not in urban, however,it is a pubilc school, the tuition is pretty cheap.

it is really difficult for me to choose.
which one do you prefer?
thanks a lot.

nobody wanna help me?

I live in Binghamton. If you are looking for nice weather, this is not the place to be. The sun rarely shines here! The university is great, but I’ve lived here my whole life and the city has really declined.

OP, go into weather.com, look up average temperatures (high/low) for the 12 months in Binghampton. For you, perhaps no issue. Some people get depressed with month after month of cold, snowy weather.

I am going to assume from your word choice and syntax that you are an international student. Given that, American U in Wash. D.C. would be a nice fit. TONS of internationals in and around DC.

if you search for Binghamton, make certain to spell it correctly. Most people add a p. There is none!

what are you after? if you are after quality, binghamton.

Can you afford to pay for any choice? If not, your FA package may be the deciding factor. The SUNY (which I’m sure is a fine school) would be my last choice of the 3.

Thank you all above.lol.
yeah, i am an international student. i hope i can get advices from native american.
I am after quality, internships and opportunities.
I did not apply for scholarships. Tuition is not a primary issue.
thanks a lot

moneyp – why do you say in post #7 that Binghamton is higher quality than American U?

I’m going to go get the SAT and GPA stats quickly and come back to post them. Not sure where to look at strength in Finance…

OK, looked it up here: https://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg01_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=83

SUNY Binghamton 25/75 ave. SAT : 1270
SUNY Binghamton ave GPA: 3.7
USNWR Ranking: 80

and here: https://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg01_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=475

American U 25/75 ave. SAT : 1260
American U ave GPA: 3.79
USNWR Ranking: 84

I can’t get from these stats how Binghamton is higher quality than American.

Add to this, American U is smaller, located in in a great networking town = INTERNSHIPS, is a great town to work in after graduation, is likely to be more accepting of an international student, and has MUCH better weather. Binghamton has its natural beauty in its favor.

OP, as long as you’re looking in DC, you should also take a look at George Washington (USNWR #53 rank) University, and Georgetown (#23). Each is, as expected from the ranking, progressively more difficult to get into than American U.

In this country, politics IS business, and business requires politics… never the twain shall be separated. There will be a lot of business opportunities in the 30 mile radius around Washington.

USF is a Jesuit Catholic college and has its own loyal following. Its a very good school. However, I think Santa Clara University, down the road a piece, is more competitive and also Jesuit, and better for finance.

But with what you have, its a question of what you want. AU is a good school…pretty campus, but sort of yuppy and preppy and full of Georgetown wannabes. It is okay in finance from what I know. Its “uptown” DC in a toney part of the city. People there tend to be wealthy. Most internships at AU are with the government, though some are with beltway bandits and lobbyists.

USF is a gorgeous campus with spectacular views of the bay and the Bridge. Its more urban in that its close to the center of San Francisco. But its internships are more business oriented, and a strong emphasis on trade with the Orient: Asia.

You will get a superb well rounded education at USF, who by the way just pulled off a major upset in basketball over the weekend.

My pick for you, given the choices, would be USF, as I strongly suspect you are Asian. You would fit in better there.

ghost… yeah, I can see the merit of U of San Francisco’s location as well. Looks like those students stat out the same as Binghamton and American U.

And I cannot overemphasize the merits of a Jesuit education. Its transforming. Truly. USF is perhaps one of the most under appreciated of the well known Jesuit schools.

I recommend it without reservation.

ghost –

I’d like to more about that … are you referring to the smaller class size, the proactive involvement of the professors (so far common to many non-religious LACs), or the requirement to take a course in philosophy or religion?.. or something else?

13

I am an antitheist. i wanna know, what are the cons and pros about Jesuit Education?

11:

i don’t think i have an excellent SAT score. So i chose American U rather than other two.

16

As far as i am concerned. both AU and USF have small class size.Right?

Once again,thanks.

Hi Christopher Hitchens follower/antitheist. A Jesuit education isn’t going to make you go crazy. Jesuits are one of the most liberal branches of Catholicism. I believe you will have to take a theology class of sorts, but this is probably something even an antitheist should take.

Both AU and USF should have small class sizes. The biggest difference will be the cities.

AU’s location in Washington is good, but you can’t really get too many places without a car. The public transportation in our ghetto capital isn’t the best in the world. Therefore, it is not too entertaining. I like the campus though, it is quite large and comfortable. I spent a couple of weeks there at a program.

USF’s location is superb. San Francisco is one of the top cities in the world, especially if you are an international. You are within walking distance of top notch cuisine from all parts of the the world. The public transportation there is great. You will never run out of things to do, but you might run out of money fast. SF is a cool city to live in, minus the millions of homeless panhandlers.

However, I don’t much like the USF campus. I visited a few friends there and my impression of it was not a good one. The one word I can describe it with is “run down”.

thanks for your opinions

plus, as for you,
can you rank these schools please?
