I was accepted EA back in December (whoop whoop!) but there was no mention of merit in my acceptance letter, and then mid-March rolled around and everyone on here got final merit offers and I didn’t hear anything so just assumed I wasn’t getting anything.

But just got an email about 10 minutes ago to check my portal and found out that I got an OOS tuition waiver +$500!!

Did they just forget about me or something? Haha. Has anyone else heard about scholarships today or just me?

Nice!

Did you miss that they also got the OOS tuition waiver? That’s a lot!

Wow! Thats great! So had you emailed them at all or did you just think you weren’t getting anything and moved on? Thats a big scholarship
congrats!!

@cgemaj Nope, hadn’t sent an email. In fact, if there was an option on the portal to decline my admission, I would have as I assumed I wasn’t getting merit and I’m pretty set on Baylor. So it was a really exciting and unexpected surprise!

My daughter just got an email encouraging her to apply for the available departmental scholarships. The big scholarship amounts to $15k off tuition but does not indicate if this would be in place of the $15k Merit Scholarship she has already been awarded or in addition to
anyone have any idea how these departmental scholarships work?

I’m not sure but I do know when we looked there wasn’t many available for incoming freshman

My twins got that email too
might be a standard email that went to everyone. But one of my twins did get awarded a departmental scholarship which is in addition to the main one from admissision
yay! But unfortunately for me, it’s the other twin who’s more interested in UofSC.

I did see the departmental scholarship is Freshman only, non renewable
so not as appealing as first thought

I received an email explaining what to expect from financial aid. Essentially, no merit unless you were advised of merit by separate email. Typically, financial aid is an “unsubsidized” loan that accrues interest immediately. Subsidized would help more. But, no merit and unsubsidized loans means full price. Financial aid (aka loan) is determined early April.

Has anyone else still not heard a decision either way?

The one my daughter received is yearly as long as the GPA is maintained above a certain level.

Which Dept awarded already? The Business school one is not due until May 1 and hard to get my son motivated to complete as think most require need .

DS received that email too–checking his portal revealed no merit. I wonder if this also means no grants due to need? We are OOS, so if all financial aid would be in the form of a loan, it’s time for us to take U of SC out of the list of contenders.

It was back in January from Engineering and I honestly don’t even think she applied for it. It was awarded to her based on her regular application.

Mine is business and didn’t hear about any. She did fill out the application but said many didn’t apply to her.

Any idea when we get the final financial aid packages?

We got with the acceptance letter.

Not until beginning- mid April I think
