My daughter was accepted after being deferred during EA. She applied TO, 4.25 GPA (I think it’s higher the way SC figures GPA) and lots of ECs. She’s OOS and accepted into Advertising.
My son was accepted today into the business program. We are OOS so I wasn’t sure he’d get in. We haven’t been able to see the campus in person yet, but we are visiting over Easter weekend. My head is spinning–never thought we’d be doing visits so late, but covid definitely altered our plans.
Just got accepted today- When will we hear if we receive any scholarship money?
If it’s not in your admittance letter…you didn’t get merit
Many universities are using higher number of “waitlisting” to ensure they have enough acceptances for the 2025 class. This year students applied to many more schools, and admissions cannot accurately predict how many offers will be declined. So, they create a long waitlist to hedge against the possibility of many students declining their offer. You still have a chance. But, it’s best to consider other offers just in case.
I don’t have a decision in my portal yet. Wonder why?
For ppl who got waitlisted. Looking at last years college confidential waitlist group…people were finding out March 30th and the first week of April that they got off the waitlist…how is that possible? Would there be a chance of that happening this year?
I think if some of us turn down our offers, then they will start going off the wait list. As financial aid offers come rolling in from all of the schools, then people will be making decisions and turning others down, freeing up room.
Waitlisted and frustrated
My daughter was waitlisted too she’s moving on - PSU Smeal
My daughter is going to PSU also!
My daughter committed to Alabama so her spot will be opening for someone on the waitlist! Good luck everyone😊
Yep…another spot will open with my son declining UofSC too.
Waitlisters should be patient. There will be lots of openings because HS students applied to many more colleges.
I think 2nd half of March into early April is a fairly common time frame for students to start making final decisions as a number of schools start releasing final financial aid packages and RDs come out.
Once students have a good idea of all admission decisions and net cost numbers, many begin accepting their one chosen admission offer, and declining the 5, 10, 15, 20 other offers and opening up spots.
It’s going to be especially wild this year because a lot of students applied to a lot of schools, but in the end everyone can only attend one school.
Im sorry. I don’t understand how students with a lower GPA and scores and extra curricular s got in instead of yours.
So has there ever been anyone who has received more money as it got closer to decision day? What happens to the money those who are declining received? Really trying to make this work!!!
I can’t imagine these schools will increase your offer. Perhaps on something like Top Scholar if someone didn’t take it and they’d go to an alternate.
Regular scholarships - they know only x % will come. They have that budgeted in.
I think it’s great for someone to decline an offer and perhaps someone will get in off the wait list. But I don’t think by anyone declining will mean they will give that money to others.
Yes sadly I agree. And the waitlist is huge
Has there been any rejections? Have r seen any!
Also if you come off the waitlist is that pretty much a guarantee you won’t get any money (asking this for a friend)
FAQs make that sound unlikely.
Is there a chance I can receive a scholarship if another student declines their scholarship?
No. The freshman applicant pool is one of our most competitive on record, and we carefully allocated scholarships in accordance with our scholarship budget and institutional enrollment goals.
I’ve been awarded a scholarship. Can I do anything right now to increase its value? May I meet with someone to discuss an upgrade?
Due to the competitiveness of the scholarship awarding process and financial aid pool, the university is unable to negotiate aid or scholarship awards.
Anyone waitlisted?
