Hi all!
I’m an American hoping to apply to St Andrews this fall for either International Relations or a Master in Management. I’m losing confidence in a possible acceptance after looking over their admissions requirements.
I received an offer from St. Andrews as a potential undergrad but turned it down for an in-state school due to financial reasons. At the time, I had a 3.8 unweighted GPA, 31 superscored ACT, many leadership positions in school and a varsity letter in golf. Not sure if it helped but I went to a very prestigious prep school.
Skip forward 4 years…I now have a degree from the University of Michigan in International Studies, concentrating in Political Economy and Development. However, my GPA isn’t as great as high school. I received an overall 3.06 and a concentration-specific GPA of 3.45. I was still very involved as a leader in two different clubs, community service and a series of summer internships in business consulting and international relations.
I now work as a consultant in the automotive industry, specifically focusing on international project management. I plan to work here until I return to school, so potentially Fall 2017.
I have heard that St Andrews is looking for 3.6 GPA’s and above via their admissions site for US citizens but also see that a B+ equivalent is requested by the Master in Management school, rather an a solid 3.6+.
I’m very concerned about getting into the school and am curious about other postgraduates who have gotten in or have been rejected from the school. This time I can afford the school, thanks to my new job, but my grades were very low.
If you applied to St Andrews for postgrad, which program did you apply to, what were your grades, did you get in???
Thank you in advance!! Also sorry about the lengthy post…trying to procrastinate going to bed lol.
