I was accepted to engineering in U of T and am really stuck between choosing a residence between New and Innis. I really like apartment style residence but also think a meal plan would be more convenient? How are meal plans in New - is it worth it to get or do students get by just as fine without a meal plan? I don’t know whether to choose style over food or food over style? For people with any experience, what would be your suggestion?
Hey, congratulations on your acceptance. Which program were you accepted to?
I have the same question as you. I hope a current student can shed some light.
@gudatama @IlluminatiIsReal I’m a parent, not a student. I really would recommend getting a meal plan that covers at least 14 meals/week, preferably more. I have 2 children in Canadian universities, both of whom started their first years with a meal plan that did not cover a full week’s worth of meals. Both of them went hungry rather than use one of their meals. One of them started to get sick because they didn’t have easy access to food.
Although U of T is surrounded by restaurants, eat in, take out and delivery, and there are food trucks on campus, none of these serve particularly nutritious meals. In addition, if you are studying/doing homework, it can seem like a lot of trouble to get outdoor clothes on to go find food. And if you’re hungry, you’re not going to be able to concentrate on your studies.
