U Penn Essay

Hello everybody, I’m currently writing my essay for ED to Wharton. The question is: How will you explore your intellectual and academic interests at the University of Pennsylvania?

I was wondering how much of the essay should be about your academic/intellectual interests and how much should be about how Penn will help you to explore those. Currently, I have about 320 words explaining my academic passion and another 300 talking about how Wharton will allow me to explore that passion. Is that enough?

My second question for those who have written “Why __” essays. Are the admissions officers looking for something super specific about the school? I have written about certain classes and clubs I’d like to participate in. I also talked about a certain professor who I wish to learn from. I feel like it’s too generic and won’t stand out enough. For those who have had to write these essays, did you focus on the classes and clubs or did you find something more specific and focus your essay on that?

Dude, I am honestly writing the same way.

Well, hopefully that’s what they want… @Danny3895

I wrote it similarly to how you wrote it. Take a look at P27.

What do you mean by P27? @ballofstress123

I think he/she means Page 217 Admissions director Dean Furda’s blog,WELCOME TO PAGE 217* - an introduction to and resource for the world of higher education presented by Eric J. Furda, Dean of Admissions at the University of Pennsylvania, and Penn class of 1987.

He writes about the essay
