which school would be better for students who want to go to med school?
how are each of the schools academically and non-academically in comparison to each other?

You’ve probably heard this before but the best school to go for pre med is the school you like the best. Rochester is higher ranked in the US NEWS but that doesn’t matter at all, they’re basically equal and going to one won’t give you the advantage over the other.

I personally would go for Pitt. Better location (Rochester=BORING), medical center is right there allowing for tons of internships/research opportunities, and it’s a lot cheaper.

Second Pitt for the research/volunteer opportunities. In this aspect, it is one of the better places in the country, and research experience is one of the places you can distinguish yourself in a med school application.

Rochester was my top choice school and I’m going to Pittsburgh (rejected from Rochester).

Pittsburgh does have a top 15 medical school and along with that is a well-rounded school altogether which is the beauty of the school and why I applied. It’s perfect for most majors and has ranked schools in Business, Medicine, and Law.

I’d go with Pittsburgh hands down over Rochester for medicine.
