They probably don’t as they often have a higher yield than expected - way too high some years in the recent past.
But I wouldn’t let the lack of a red carpet sway a student’s decision TBH. Their 4 years anywhere isn’t going to be dealing with those folks.
I see kids (and parents) at high school swayed by swag, mailings, and whether the cookies were good at presentations. It stuns me TBH. Finances, offerings in the major or likely fields, other aspects of fit (location, size, research, etc), all make sense to keep or cut a school, but admissions (tours, presentations, swag, etc)? Why? Do we love a car or house more/less because of a sales presentation? Should we? It can be really good to focus on what’s really important (which may, or may not, be URoc) for your student.
So far my D is deciding between UR and another school. With the merit and FA, both schools are on par with price with UR being closer and would have a lot less travel costs, it basically comes in cheaper. TBH, if she had not been given the merit, UR would have had to go. UR is her top choice. We’ll be attending a Yellowjacket Experience tomorrow so maybe i will give a review for anyone who may be still interested.
Hope you have a great time! I’m part of a UR Facebook group for parents and there seemed to be a positive response from a parent who attended one of the last Yellowjacket experiences. I’m looking forward to attending our session next week!
We attended April 15. It was a beautiful day and Rochester puts on a good program but D decided to go to Colgate instead. Wasn’t easy especially since older sister went to Rochester but felt the pre-med was more supportive at Colgate. Either one would have been fine.
We were there, too. Agree beautiful day, good program. D was just not feeling the love from UR. Talked the admissions rep for her area. It was her 3rd time meeting him and he still didn’t remember her. All this combined with no aid leaves her less enthused than anticipated.
