Hi im wondering if it is worth paying like 38 grand a year for U of Rochester. I could save 20 grand a year by going to Rutgers, TCNJ, or Binghamton. I intend to major in some sort of engineering, and minoring some business. So far, my parents say that U of Rochester is too pricy. Thanks, help would be greatly appreciated.

The U of Rochester gives excellent financial aid. It will probably cost you about 16-20 thousand a year, after financial aid. After you get your financial aid package, go back to them and show them the package from Rutgers, TCNJ, SUNY Bing. Ask them if they can do better. Leverage them a little. Then go to the U of R regardless.

You can check your expected family contribution EFC with an online calculator to estimate how much you will actually have to pay. The 38 grand is like the sticker price on a used car. Your parents can take out PLUS loans to help cover the difference with excellent terms. You can get work-study aid and take out a loan for $5000 that you don't have to start paying until you are done with school. For Engineering, you'll get a good salary.

U Rochester is really good for engineering. Is it worth it? You bet!!

lol thanks for all the help. However, they only gave me 8 thousand out of 46 thousand, and I am not qualified for any financial aid. I am only qualified for that merit they gave me :( I am highly considering bing and rutgers now.

i have a few friends at Rochester. Great school, but not worth the high price tag. I'd go to Rutgers.
