U.S. News and World Report 2016 has 5 UCs in top 10 public universities

UCB @ #1, UCLA #2, UCSB #8, UCI and UCSD #9 (tie). I’m pretty surprised UCSB has surpassed UCSD, and UCI has a lot of upward movement from last year as well. Wondering what other people thought and if/how these new rankings will influence applicants decisions.

I wonder if the high percentage of foreign and out-of-state students at UCLA/UCB have displaced high GPA Californians to the the next tier of UCs, raising the stats for those schools.

… and 6 UCs in the top 11 with Davis #11.

I’d expect that the new rankings will have some effect on UCSB’s yield, since it’s pretty common to see kids here on CC deciding between UCSB, UCSD, and UCD. Occasionally you see kids deciding between UCSB’s CCS and UCB for physics.
