Hi! I just applied to be a Senate Page for Senator Claire McCaskill from Missouri for the summer sessions. She’s the senior senator for Missouri, but I’m still waiting to find out if she’s going to get a page for the summer session yet. Does anyone know if Missouri is one of those states that usually get pages?

Also, how “academically amazing” are the pages who get in, usually? Like, are these the really really top students, or are they usually average students that can show a lot of passion?

I’ve never started a thread that turned out to be so successful! I’m very glad!

Anyway, I’ve seen that many of you are applying for this summer’s session. Do any of you know of dates? Session I/II? I’ve yet to call my senators, but I thought it’d be nice to know whether or not I’m even available.

you cannot have your phone at all, but you are allowed to bring a computer as long as it does not have wireless internet capabilities (ie: no hotspots or wifi drives). There are computers in the Hall we can use.

From what Ive heard the school is very difficult. This is because you have around 3 classroom hours a day to fit in a full school days work, making for most of the work to be done not during classroom time. This coupled with that pages do not have a lot of free time to do homework (after work everyday) makes it very challenging. On top of that, the teachers know that these pages are very academically skilled, from just getting selected into the page program, so they tend to demand more than a regular high school would. BTW, now I know what you were talking about with a lot of paperwork in the packet…

This pertains to the people who applied for the summer programs…

The secretary at my Senator’s office just emailed me letting me know that the official list of which senators are getting pages isn’t coming out until March or early April.

As an outsider, all the smart debate/Ivy league friends I know were Senate Pages. I’ve never heard of House Pages until glancing upon this thread.

Hey, do you guys think it is too late to apply for one of the summer sessions? I live in VA so I would apply to Senator Webb. Also, is it okay to apply to more than one senator to increase your chances of getting it?

@blueWednesday or those of you who have applied:

I just heard about this program and am really interested in it! This might sound like a really dumb question but… Do you have to call your senator’s office to apply for it? Is there a form? Also, is it too late to apply for the summer session? What are the qualities they are looking for (I don’t want to apply for it if it doesn’t fit me I guess–I’m not on debate team, and not very experienced in politics but are those kinds of extracurriculars/stats what they’re looking for? Is it like a college-app EC list?)

Look for a section for students (often hidden in one of the menus for “services” or something) and you should find an application form for the page program from there.

Hi! I applied for the senate page program and am getting an interview soon with my senator. What is the interview usually like and what should I expect? Thanks in advance!

The school IS very difficult. The grading scale is also different for many schools, and many in my class had difficulties in getting their home schools to adjust their transcripts for it. Bottom line: the educational experience far outweighs any effects the semester may have on your G.P.A. BTW Scott Brown was one of my favorite senators.

This has probably been discussed before, but I am on a time crunch and can’t read all of the other posts.

I am a junior in HS in NJ. I want to apply for the summer program. What are my chances? In terms of my senators (S. Bob Menendez and S. Frank Lautenberg) actually receiving a page for the summer. Should I apply out of state?

Could somebody please quickly clarify the pay? Is the 25K amount per full 4-month session? Or is that the amount for 12 months, so a 4 month fall session earns 8K before taxes and a one month summer page earns 2k?

Sorry if this has been answered already. Out of curiosity, Is it true I can’t have my phone and or computer with me during the time I’m serving as a page?
