U. Va Arabic Language Program/Yarmouk in Jordan

Have any of you parents ever sent a child to this program, based in Irbid, Jordan? My college sophomore son is interested in attending this program this summer. I'd appreciate any perspective you could give me on safety issues, particularly in light of the fact that we're Jewish. He really wants to go and I'm very apprehensive.

I also am interested in this topic in general though not specifically through either UVA or Duke; any parents have additional information?
