U Wisconsin-Madison ???

Madison is a great bicycling city. I had friends that biked to school year round from the west side, but they were a hardy pair.

The cold is only an issue if you aren't willing to bundle up. Although few went to the extremes that I did - wearing chemistry goggles on the really cold days. And who cares if their nose hairs freeze!

There is a nude beach about 15 miles from campus (on the Wisconsin river).

Karlton Armstrong - convicted war protestor, bomber, murderer - sells smoothies at the base of Bascom hill.

For obvious reasons, Babcock hall sells the best ice cream anywhere.

The student union has had beer on tap since 1933.

The green lantern coop no longer has its meals interrupted by fights between the Leninists and the Stalinists.

UW-Madison is among one of the best schools one can dream to attend. Although the students aren't as bright as Princetonians, a good proportion of them are party animals. and that's what college is mostly about---> social life. honestly, i think most of what you learn in college is how to interact with people, and MAdison is top in that field. Some of the fraternities in Madison are designed by premier architects as well.

greek life is pretty small in Madison.

1 party school + #1 sports town (SI, 2003) + 70 academic departments in the top 10 nationally ... that's hard to beat
