U1 in rez?

When i start Mcgill I'll be in year 1, because of credits.
I've been told that the best thing is to spend the first year in rez, however, that generally means u0.

Most of the people who enter u1 are coming from CEGEP, right? so that means they probably have a home or apartment and wont be in residence either, I guess. (maybe I'm wrong.)

I don't mind off campus housing, but I do want to meet people from the university. What is the best option for me?

Actually, every new admit to the university (U1 or U0) is guaranteed a place in the residence. So if it’s your first year in McGill, you will be given a chance to enroll in a Rez. Also something to note, in the McGill Webinar, the representative stated that a large portion of McGill’s new admits actually start off as U1 so I don’t think that you’ll be the only U1 in your residence.

Most of the students who come from IB, CEGEP, AP, French Bacc etc are given advanced standing so there are plenty of U1 students on campus
