For what’s it worth we haven’t had any luck trying to connect with Bethany either. Prior to our visit to Bama earlier this month, we tried Bethany twice without any luck. We then took the advice of others on this forum and contacted Jami.

i dont know who bethany is. sometimes it is best to go through your local rep to get ahold of someone to answer your questions.

Well I certainly hope that Bethany is ok…but she is doing a disservice to UA. I wonder how many other parents in Illinois have reached out with questions, like we have and given up on the school when they received no response?

Thank goodness for CC…but not everyone finds this amazing site.

Mike - Bethany IS the local rep for the Chicago area. The elusive rep, in my experience.

I think that you guys need to contact the “other” Illinois rep, ask if Bethany is still the area rep for Chicago. The other rep should know this info. That rep will either tell you who the new rep is, or let Bethany know that there are prospective students/families who need to talk to her.

Amanda Sisk is the “other” Illinois rep amanda.sisk@ua.edu

BTW…Bethany’s email is; bethany.forrest@ua.edu

I wonder if Bethany has a new job in the Scholarships dept.

I too am a student from Illinois with UA as my first choice. I emailed Bethany but I still haven’t got a reply.

I just sent an email to Rick Funk, who I believe is in charge of all recruiters, alerting him to the problem.

I urge all parents and prospective students to do the same if your recruiter has been negligent in their duties. Those who aren’t doing their jobs are doing a great disservice to UA and to all of us that hold her dear.

Here’s a link to the admissions staff where you will find Rick’s contact info.

[Meet Our Team - Undergraduate Admissions - The University of Alabama](http://gobama.ua.edu/staff/team.cfm)

As NJBama mentioned, Rick Funk is the “boss” of all the recruiters and also does most of the very-OOS recruitment trips (PNW, HI, and others). He should know the reason why Bethany is not returning your e-mails.

For the record, Jami now works at the UA Law School. Allison Verhine is now the person at the Honors College whom you should contact to arrange a VIP visit to UA.

If Bethany is hosting a send off party for Chicago area kids, we certainly have not heard of it. I sent one e-mail to Bethany about a year ago when we were in the same position as many of you posting here on this thread. No reply whatsoever until after I had found this thread and Jami, and AFTER she had visited my D’s HS, then finally a reply after months, which by then was no longer useful since I’d been in contact with y’all. Roll Tide!

A quick note about Allison Verhine who is replacing Jami. We spent about 30 minutes talking with Allison during our Honors tour, when Dr. O’Neill was stuck in a meeting and could not get to us. She is wonderful! She had great information and was personable and just a pleasure to talk to. Her love of the Honors program and all things UA came shining thru. She even arranged for my daughter to talk to her sister who is in the same major DD wants to be in.

Jami has been wonderful, but I wanted you all to know that the Honors Program is in capable hands with Allison!

Dad2ILD,

Our Son received an email about the send off party in his Crimson mail account. I have posted info on the send off in the send off party thread.

I agree with NJBama…Rick Funk needs to know if a rep isn’t responding to inquiries.

Any rep that doesn’t respond in a timely manner, should have one of those “auto responses” that indicate that they are “out of pocket” until XXXX date and will get back with you after that date…and then the rep should do so. !!!

Everyone is going to miss and email now and then, but repetitive “misses” should not be acceptable. :(

That said…if the problem is that certain employees now have different jobs or have left Bama, then the website needs to be updated in a timely manner!

FWIW, the email I mention above about the send off party was sent to my son five days ago from Bethany, which gives me the impression that she was still around 5 days ago and working as the Chicago Area Regional Recruiter.

rp … thanks for the info. The link does say Western & Southern suburbs, so maybe there would be another event for NW and N suburbs? For those not familiar with Chicago geographics there is no East, since east is in Lake Michigan.
Can’t be too upset about missing this event I guess since we’re on vacation all next week and would not have been able to attend anyway. I hope that she’ll hold another event later. Maybe I’ll send her an e-mail. tee-hee-hee.

M2CK- I don’t think the problem is that Bethany has switched jobs. I sent her an e-mail and she eventually returned it 4 weeks later, when it was, of course, too late for what I’d needed. Based on my experience, she is still working as the regional rep for Bama, and she IS getting the e-mails. If she, rather than the UA board on CC and the folks at UA to whom you’ve directed us, was my sole exposure to the school, Alabama would have been removed from our list long ago. Perhaps it’s also the reason that D’s guidance counselor is not at all positive about UA (but is, curiously, positive about Auburn).

Darn all you Bama parents - Y’all are making Bama my top choice. :)

sounds like bethany needs her but kicked!

As well as beth’s mom’s school guidance counselor :-)

It will be interesting to find out what happens with all of this.

our area rep is awesome and always answers me within one day!
