Hello I recently sent in my housing and tuition deposits for UB and will most likely be attending in the fall. Due to finical concerns it appears that I will have to dorm in a Quad and I was just wondering How are They and Whats life like in them? Is their enough space for a TV (32 inches) and normal dorm furniture (Mini Fridge, Desks, etc…), Is space extremely cramped?, etc… Thanks for your help and Insight
Also 1 other question on UB’s list of what to bring to college it states that “Beds can be raised up to 34 inches, but lofting beds is not allowed” How can you raise a bed almost 3 feet without lofting it? and Is raising a bed that high in a Quad possible?
Did you already check their Campus Living website? Lots of pictures and even videos there. You can see the quad room and raised bed.
Students often raise the bed to this height to fit a mini fridge and other storage items underneath.
Thanks for the info I saw the pictures but haven’t seen the videos yet Ill go check for them
The quads in Ellicott (where most freshmen live) are not that small; all four residents have space for bed, desk, dresser and closet. I’ve seen doubles in other colleges that give individual residents much less space.
Hi DJ215,
I currently live in a quad in Ellicott. Most quads are pretty large and not cramped, although a few pretty small. There is enough room for a TV and normal dorm furniture
sorry for the late reply Thanks for your insight Muffy and UBstudent
My son just committed to attending UB in the fall. We sent in his application and housing deposit on 4/10. I’m reading that he may be VERY late and it’s possible (or even likely) he ll be in a dorm on south campus?? He requested FYI floors (health sciences). Any thoughts?
