UBC Class of 2025 Decisions

Yes! Got 2 so far! Does that mean anything in terms of admissions?

Are the IMES and OIS decisions out? Heard from some other sources that emails have been sent to some.

Hi can someone tell me if anyone has gotten in for ubc computer science UG fall 2021. I’m an international applicant who applied on 1 jan and submitted my documents on 21 jan since March one I’ve had the message that my application is ready for an evaluation. Any idea when the decision can be out for me. Also I got an email from them in February confirming my ielts score so idk if that means anything. I’m just really nervous and excited.:blush:

applied cs international havent heard back

Hey I applied for the ILOT Scholarship from India and received an email stating I was selected as finalist and they asked for my financial documents.

Looking at the portal, under Choice #1, it says “Your application for admission has been reviewed. Before a decision can be reached, we need to review the complete pool
”

Under Choice #2, it says “Your application to UBC (including your supporting documentation, academic transcripts, and personal profile) is currently being reviewed and evaluated in comparison with all the other applicants
”

Based on info. listed on UBC’s wesbite on the topic “After You Apply” it notes that “Be certain of the order of your choices – think of them as two separate applications ranked in order of preference. We will evaluate your first choice first, and if we offer you admission to that choice, we will stop there. We will only evaluate your second-choice degree application if you were unsuccessful with your application to your first choice.” (emphasis mine).

Does this mean that my son is most likely already rejected for his first choice CS since he is being evaluated for his second choice based on what’s showing up on his portal?

Hi im in the exact same situation for CS(Bachelor of Science), does this actually mean that I’m rejected for first choice???plz clarify

I’m not sure, but I think the message about comparing is similar to McGill’s “Reviewed - Decision Pending.” You’re better than the ones they’ve rejected but not as strong as those they’ve accepted (per McGill’s definition). You haven’t been rejected, if you had to put a label on it maybe waitlisted? I think that they’ll only evaluate your second choice once you’ve actually been rejected from first choice

Thanks for the ray of hope :grinning:

Maybe the question to ask is whether anyone who has not heard back has a message under their Choice #2 showing application received but not reviewed while their Choice #1 is being reviewed or decision pending?

My daughter (who has not heard anything yet) has the same exact message showing on both her choices:

“Your application to UBC (including your supporting documentation, academic transcripts, and personal profile) is currently being reviewed and evaluated in comparison with all the other applicants who have applied to your program. This process can take some time and we greatly appreciate your patience. We will be in touch with you by email should we require additional information. Continue to check back here for the most up-to-date status of your application.”

same

Thanks for the info. I guess I should just let the process play out and not try to second guess from the wording on the portal.

Does anyone know when scholarship decisions for international students come out - The Outstanding International Student (OIS) and the International Major Entrance Scholarship (IMES)??
