Hey, i’m an international Student and have been accepted to UBC’s College of Engineering.
So, I had a doubt regarding :
1)Campus Life
2)Co-Op and internship Opportunities
3)Job Prospects after Graduation.

I am currently interested in Computer engineering.
So, is it difficult for international students to get jobs?
Also, is UBC globally recongnised?
Does a UBC degree have worth in Asia ?

Basically, i just wanted to know more about the job opportunities after UBC.

Hi,
I actually only know what I’ve read on the website. I also visited for a day, but I didn’t form any really strong opinions. (I sort of wish I had - it would be easier if I either loved it or hated it - it seemed fine but didn’t make me excited to go there.) The weather sucked but I know it’s not always like that, only in winter. The food in the dining hall was fantastic, and the people on campus were very friendly. The campus is h-u-g-e but that doesn’t bother me. The parts of the computer science building that I saw were sort of boring, but I didn’t go to any labs or anything so I can’t really give an opinion there. The classes I went to were fine. Funny that I sat in on A.I. classes at UBC, UW, and Northeastern and they were at nearly the same place (in the same book!) at all three colleges. The dorm rooms for freshmen look tiny but I would hope to get one of the apartments on campus after my first year I think. Hopefully I won’t be spending that much time in the room. I have an acquaintance who is also a student from the US and he LOVES it there. He did have to get a bike in order to get from one class to another, though (that huge campus). He is a Forestry major. He is very outdoorsy and he has been rock climbing, skiing, etc. It’s very easy to get to Whistler for ski days, and apparently UBC even owns some cabins up there that students can rent. I don’t know anything about job placements except that I’m confident I’d be able to get a job in the Vancouver area after graduation. That’s pretty much true anywhere for a Comp Sci degree, assuming I do well. Hope this helps.
