I got accepted to both - my options - UBC in software engineering with commerce minor with a starting scholarship of 2500 cad

FDU Vancouver- Bsc in IT with minor in business Administration with a 60000 cad scholarship

I am concerned that FDU, being an american private university, may not be known enough in usa or canada.... but at the same time I am planning to do my masters after.

What would you choose in my situation - and why? Your answers would help me make an educated decision. Thanks!

I would choose UBC because I have not even heard the other uni; I personally think a more widely-known degree will help admissions into a masters program. Depends if money is an issue though.

I was wondering why you didn’t apply for major entrance scholarship at UBC? You have gotten much more money.
PS: I’m ticked they reduced the president’s entrance scholarship to 2k this year :(

I had applied for the UBC major entrance one but I didn’t get it - all well , even though money is not an issue i am still thinking two ways because apparently FDU ( which even i hadn’t heard of before I decided to apply for it) has links with UN …considering that would you still go to UBC?

Oooh a UN internship would be VERY appealing. I would make sure that it is fairly common and you could easily get one though. I think FDU looks great for connections and internships, while UBC is better for education + prestige of diploma. I only friends who have positive experiences with UBC undergrad, but I can’t comment on FDU.

Sorry I can’t help you more – hopefully someone actually attending FDU or UBC will be able to elaborate!
Try to visit their campuses, talk to students, and enjoy!

Thanks for your input. I think I have made my decision now :)
