Uber from campus to Logan airport?

Sorry for the random question, but I’m not sure where else to ask it.

Has anyone ever taken Uber from the Amherst area to Logan airport? Various Uber fare estimators show it will cost $100 or a little more. But what I can’t tell is if you can actually find a driver that will take you.

Has anyone done it? Was it easy to get a car? Do you know about how much it cost?

Thanks!

I live in the area. I have never tried it, but I have looked and Uber coverage for the area is spotty. That is a long way and they would likely have an empty return. There is a van service to Logan in the area, Valley Transporter (and if you google I think there is another). Never used them, but I do see there vans around. There is also a few cab services which can be reserved. I know of Funky cab, but I believe there are a few others.

Peter Pan buses run back and forth from campus to Boston all day. You can take the silver line trolley from the airport to south station and pick up the bus, or get the bus at the airport and change at south station. Fares vary based on time and how far ahead you make a reservation but the I think one way is in the $35-$40 range and there are 5 or 6 runs a day. Just be clear about pick up points and be sure to book a bus going to umass campus.

Flying into Hartford not an option? Airport is about half an hour-ish away.

Thanks for the replies.

We already have plane tickets, so we can’t change them.

It turns out that the best option seems to be to just rent a car in Amherst, and drive one way to Logan. $90 at enterprise. Bargain!

What days are you traveling? I am taking my Daughter to UMass on 4/16 through 4/19, we are going get a rental car on the 16th but spending the day in Boston to show her the area. Staying the night in Auburn and then on to Amherst the next day.

Are you allowed to drop of the Amherst based rental car in Boston? Anyway, as someone else said, another option is to take a (hopefully) direct bus from Amherst or Umass to South station, then take the Gray line into Logan. (2hrs - ~35$ Peter Pan Buses)

If you’re going to use South Station, then why not just take the silver line to Logan? Something like 2 bucks.

My $90 rate is like $45 for the car for a day, and $45 for the one-way dropoff fee.

A young lady I hired out of Isenberg last year told me ab0out VanGo. She’s from Cambridge and always used this service and told me Peter Pan is too slow. The only problem here its that you are tied into certain times.
